The Launch Pad: :The Launch Pad: Dramaturgy Program for New Performance (Dance & Theatre) began in 2004, as a pilot program, produced by Creative Dominion. Over the years, the incubator program has provided professional dramaturgical and production support for new works of performance, serving emerging and established dance artists, actors, playwrights, puppeteers, and storytellers. As a studio-based program, The Launch Pad has attracted many physical theatre and dance artists interested in working with a dramaturge to create new and original performances. With a dual-purpose, the program is unique in British Columbia: on one hand, it provides a space for performing artists to create, explore and develop their repertoire; and, on the other hand, it reaches out to new audiences and showcases contemporary artists to local and discerning audiences.
Now in its ninth year, Creative Dominion Society's longest running series, The Launch Pad, is now entering a new phase. This series will showcase a curated evening of theatrical and contemporary dance in an intimate, 158-seat, black box theatre. The most recent Launch Pad, Mission 11 took place on December 8, 2012, as a successful collaboration presented by Presentation House Theatre in North Vancouver.
The Launch Pad has been streamlined into an intensive 16 hour weekend workshop and mentored dramaturgical process. The next installments are scheduled for:
June 10-12, 2016 (Friday 7-9pm, and Sat/Sun 10am -6pm), and
July 8-10, 2016 (Friday 7-9pm, and Sat/Sun 10am-6pm)
